So Central Michigan dialed up this play:



But Central Michigan decided to go for a two-point conversion to win the game, and the pass fell short. They lost to Western Kentucky 49-48.

The 'Stanford Band Play' refers to a game in 1982, when California used five lateral passes on the last play of the game to score the winning touchdown and gain a 25-20 disputed victory. Members of the Stanford Band had come onto the field midway through the return, believing that the game was over, which added to the ensuing confusion and folklore.
