Police arrest 50 people in Tri-Cities gang sweep

KENNEWICK, Wash. (AP) — Police arrested 50 people this week in a gang sweep across the Tri-Cities, prompted by a wave of recent shootings.

Local, state and federal agencies cooperated in the sweep Tuesday through Thursday and announced results at the Kennewick police station.

The Tri-City Herald reports there were charges or warrants for 62 felonies and 43 misdemeanors.

There have been 10 gang-related shootings in Pasco and Kennewick since March. Three shootings in Pasco since mid-November killed two men and wounded five others.
