EVERETT — Detectives found hundreds of car parts at a suspected chop-shop behind a home in Everett.

Officers served the search warrant at the house on the 2400 block of 75th Street SE around 8:00 a.m. Wednesday.

In the backyard, investigators also discovered a stolen tow truck and several vehicles.

Police took the man accused of running the illegal and unlicensed wrecking yard into custody.

Auto theft detectives went through all the car parts and collected VIN numbers from the vehicles. They are trying to determine if any of the cars were reported stolen.

“There is a hood back there. I can already tell it has identifying numbers on it so we’re going to be able to tell if it is stolen or not,” said Terry Haldeman with the Snohomish County Auto Theft Task Force.

Often times, the parts on older vehicles are worth more than the entire car, according to Haldeman.

The task force along with the Everett Police Department and the Washington State Patrol are conducting the investigation.

While searching the backyard, investigators arrested a woman at the home on an outstanding warrant.

This house is also referred to as the “murder house” by those that live in the neighborhood. There have been 2 murders in it and there always seemed to be something shady going on. Hopefully he’ll stay in jail longer this time.
