ISSAQUAH — An area middle school closed Wednesday after a teacher discovered a typed note outside a classroom that threatened violence to at least four staff members, made reference to guns and alleged planned violence during an assembly or lunch.

A teacher at Pacific Cascade Middle School in the 24000 block of SE Issaquah Fall City Road found the note that “contains unspecified threats to do violence at lunch or during the school’s winter assembly Friday,” school officials said in a release.

After the note was discovered, officials chose to close school for the day. Since buses were already en route, all students were picked up from their stops. They were bussed to school and notified of the situation, then routed back home.

Officials said all students were expected to arrive home by 10:30 a.m.  Staff and police would stay at the school to monitor all students who had walked home, or needed to stay.

The school is working closely with police, who are investigating the note, school officials said. The schedule for Thursday and Friday was undecided at 11:30 a.m.

“We will send an update on the situation and the status of school for tomorrow and Friday when we have more information to share with you,” a note sent to parents read.

A school in Aberdeen was also closed Wednesday following a threat against the school’s principal.
