One of Australian hostages killed in siege attended WSU in 2002-03

SEATTLE -- One of the two hostages killed in the cafe siege in Sydney, Australia, was a man who attended Washington State University in 2002 and 2003.

Police identified the two victims as barrister Katrina Dawson, 38, and Tori Johnson, 34, both of Sydney, who managed the Lindt cafe, where the siege took place.

The Guardian newspaper first reported Johnson's background, and Johnson's LinkedIn page confirmed that Johnson had studied hospitality business management at WSU in 2002 and 2003 and held a diploma in hotel business management.

The Guardian said Johnson moved back to Australia in 2004 after a three-year stint overseas, working at hotels in the United States and the Maldives, Johnson's LinkedIn profile showed.

Johnson had worked at the Lindt cafe for more than two years.
