Identity thief still on the loose as victim spends 100s of hours clearing his name

LYNNWOOD -- A local man says he has spent more than 200 hours so far working to clear his name and credit after a thief stole his identity and opened credit card accounts at numerous stores.

Surveillance video inside Sears and Lowe’s shows the suspect. He has a unique tattoo on his left arm.

“Our victim estimates losses somewhere around $25,000,” said Lynnwood Det. Scott Dilworth who is hoping someone knows the suspect’s name.

The victim, who we are not naming for his safety, says the thief even charged thousands of dollars at a jewelry store in Bellevue.

“You can imagine every day coming home and seeing bills on the table,” he said.

He spends every night trying to convince collection agents he isn’t the culprit.

“I know it's taken him a lot of time to contact all of these different credit companies so definitely get this guy caught and help accountable for what he's done,” said Det. Dilworth.

If you recognize the suspect and can tell Lynnwood police his name, Crime Stoppers will pay you a cash reward of up to $1,000. Call 1-800-222-tips (8477). All calls are anonymous but you must call the hotline with the information to be eligible for the reward money.
