Arizona Cardinals to start QB Ryan Lindley against Seahawks

TEMPE, Ariz. (AP) — Five weeks removed from the San Diego practice squad, Ryan Lindley will start at quarterback for the Arizona Cardinals against Seattle on Sunday night.

Coach Bruce Arians announced the decision Monday following the team's practice, with experience the deciding factor in choosing Lindley over rookie Logan Thomas in what figures to be the biggest game for the Cardinals this season.

The Cardinals can clinch the NFC's No. 1 playoff seed with a win over the Seahawks, who opened as a 7½-point favorite.

However, Arians said he will have a package for Thomas in the game plan and both quarterbacks might see action.

Lindley came on in relief when Drew Stanton went down with a knee injury in Thursday night's 12-6 victory at St. Louis.

Lindley was drafted in the 6th round of the 2012 NFL Draft by the Arizona Cardinals. On Nov. 18, 2012, he replaced John Skelton in a loss to the Atlanta Falcons.

In his first season, he posted a very low 46.7% completion percentage and threw 7 interceptions compared to 0 touchdowns. After two seasons with the team, Lindley was released by the Cardinals on Aug. 25, 2014.

Lindley signed with the San Diego Chargers and was assigned to their practice squad on Aug. 31, 2014. On Nov. 11, 2014, Lindley re-signed with the Arizona Cardinals after a season ending injury to Carson Palmer.
