AUBURN — One person died in a crash on State Route 18 Thursday morning east of Weyerhaeuser, the Washington State Patrol said.

According to WSP, the victim’s vehicle, a Kia Sol, hit the back of a slow moving semi-truck, likely a logging truck. After the crash, the semi-truck continued westbound on SR 18.

The driver of the vehicle, a 20-year-old woman from Federal Way, was taken to Harborview Medical Center. She died at the hospital, WSP said.

The crash closed the right two lanes of SR 18 near Weyerhauser for some time. Traffic backups began to clear around 8 a.m.

Troopers are looking to contact the semi-truck driver involved in the crash.
