SEE IT: Police pull over unsuspecting drivers, deliver holiday surprise

LOWELL, Mich. -- Police in Michigan surprised unsuspecting drivers who thought they were getting pulled over.

While making traffic stops  in November, an officer asked unsuspecting drivers about their gift-giving plans, FOX 17 reported.

“These were legitimate traffic stops,” said Officer Scot VanSolkema. “From five miles an hour above the speed limit, dangling objects from the rear-view mirror, tinted windows, snow covering the license plate.”

“Some people were nervous,” he explained. “Some people didn’t want to be stopped by us, especially when I told them what the infraction was. They just wanted to get out of there.”

All of the gifts and production were paid for by UP TV as part of their Uplift Someone campaign.

VanSolkema says the department has since received thank you notes, Facebook messages and correspondence from folks who were not directly impacted but knew someone in the video.
