Remember that it’s actually possible that the body was out there for quite some time under water. A human carcass often sinks to the bottom of a body of water . Then, the gasses involved with decomposition cause the carcass to swell and bloat to twice it’s size. This creates air bubbles and lower density inside the bloated cadaver which causes it to pop up to the surface, where it might bob up and down and flow with the current in much the same manner as a beach ball would (a malodorous, rotting beach ball in this case).
