Firefighter struck on I-5 while responding to accident

Tukwila – A Tukwila firefighter was injured Saturday evening when he responding to a single vehicle accident on I-5.

The firefighter was speaking to the driver of the vehicle near the northbound on ramp of I-5 and southbound I-405 when another car struck the vehicle he was standing near.  Both vehicles then hit the firefighter injuring him.

The officer was transported to Harborview Medical Center with serious injuries.

The driver from the first vehicle was also injured.

The Washington State Patrol is leading the investigation into the accident

It is not known whether icy road conditions were a factor.

    the driver was dumb and stupid . why was he going so fast , and what was he doing out in the bad weather , he should of move away from the fire folks . oh well hop the fire man and the first car driver are doing ok , but this last car driver can pay for all damages and his license gone for two years .
