Rescue units searching for 5-year-old boy in river; mother rescued

RENTON-- Marine rescue units and sheriff's deputies responded to reports of a 5-year-old boy and an adult in the Cedar River near Renton Wednesday morning.

The King County Sheriff's Office tweeted about the rescue around 8:45 a.m. Wednesday:



Deputies quickly rescued the adult woman from the river, but were still looking for the boy.



The woman's condition was not immediately known following her rescue.

According to the Renton Police Department, someone called 911 to report they saw a mother and child enter the river, which was swollen and moving fast after days of rain.
