Two arrested on I-5 in connection with armed robbery in south Seattle
SEATTLE — Two people in an SUV were pulled over and arrested on Interstate 5 in Seattle in connection with an armed robbery Saturday morning, police said Sunday.
The incident began when a woman walking in the 4400 block of South Othello Street was approached by a man who pulled out a handgun and demanded her purse. The victim fought with the man as he ripped the purse from her grasp.
He then ran to a waiting car while the victim screamed for help.
Witnesses described the suspect’s Chevy Suburban to officers, who were able to find it entering I-5 minutes later. Officers stopped the SUV with the help of Washington State Patrol troopers.
Officers took a 29-year-old suspect and his getaway driver into custody and impounded the SUV. The suspects are in King County Jail awaiting robbery charges.
