Police: Naked burglar who surprised sleeping couple found relaxing in hot tub

THURSTON COUNTY -- A burglar who allegedly broke into a home, ditched all his clothes and walked into a sleeping couple's bedroom naked was later found by officers relaxing in a neighboring hot tub, police said.

According to the Thurston County Sheriff's Office, deputies received calls of a naked burglar around 1:20 a.m. at a home in the 9600 block of Summerfield Loop SE near Tumwater.

The victims told police they were asleep in their bed when a naked man walked into their room. Bewildered, the husband chased the man out of the house.

Police found the man's clothing inside the victim's home and located his wallet for identification.

Officers used a K9 to track the suspect to a home located directly beside the victim's house. There, they found the man naked in a hot tub.

When told he was under arrest he grew combative, deputies said, jumped out of the hot tub and ran from officers. It took "several" deputies to control the suspect who ran through nearby bushes, Thurston County Sheriff Lt. Cliff Ziesmer said, and officers were forced to Tase him twice.

"The suspect was completely naked, sweaty and bloody from running through the bushes," when he was arrested, Ziesmer said.

The man was taken to Capital Medical Center, and was later transported to Thurston County Jail.

He is expected to be charged with residential burglary, third-degree attempted assault, resisting arrest and criminal trespass, deputies said.
