NEW YORK (CNN) — Prince William and his wife, Catherine, will visit New York for the first time next month, paying their respects to victims at the National September 11 Memorial and Museum in lower Manhattan and catching a Brooklyn Nets game at the Barclays Center.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge last visited the United States in 2011, combining commerce and charity work during three days in Southern California, including a polo competition.

A statement from Clarence House said the royal couple will be in the Big Apple from December 7-9, with the duke visiting Washington, D.C., during the second day of their stay to attend a conference at the World Bank.

The itinerary for the Duchess of Cambridge includes a visit to a child development center with New York City’s first lady, Chirlane McCray. The couple will also tour an inner-city youth organization that promotes “positive youth development and social learning” and an arts-in-education programs.

Their attendance at the basketball game is connected to the launch of a collaboration between the Royal Foundation, the NBA and the United For Wildlife consortium, according to the statement.

The final engagement is a visit to a gala at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in Manhattan commemorating the 600th anniversary of Scotland’s University of St. Andrews.

It’s unclear whether their first child, Prince George, who was born in July 2013, will make the trip.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge’s second baby is due in April. She has canceled some public engagements as a result. The second child will become fourth in line to the British throne, regardless of gender.

Prince Charles is first in line, followed by William, Prince George and then eventually the new baby. The new child will knock future uncle Prince Harry down to fifth.
