One person killed, one injured in Seattle apartment fire

SEATTLE -- One person was killed and another was injured in an apartment fire in the 200 block of NW 39th Street Thursday night, the Seattle Fire Department said.

An 80-year-old man died of severe burns covering 80 percent of his body, the fire department said.

The other injured man, in his 50s, had less serious injuries, but still had second-and third-degree burns. He is recovering at Harborview Medical Center, authorities said.

About five people are displaced from this fire. The fire caused about $200,000 of worth of damage, officials said.

The two-alarm fire in Seattle's Fremont neighborhood was quickly brought under control.

The cause of the blaze was under investigation. Seattle police and bomb squad investigators are looking at the scene.
