MPHS shooting survivor visits with friends -- and Seattle celebrity Macklemore

MARYSVILLE -- A student shot and injured in the shooting at Marysville-Pilchuck High School late last month is alert, speaking with his friends and even walking around.

Nate Hatch, a 14-year-old freshman at MPHS, tweeted photos recently of friends coming to visit him at Harborview Medical Center. In the photographs, Hatch appears to be standing with the help of a walker and is smiling. A scar is noticeable on his jaw.

Hatch also got a visit from Seattle musician Macklemore.

According to Harborview Medical Center, Hatch remains in satisfactory condition at the hospital.

Andrew Fryberg, a 15-year-old freshman also insured in the shooting, remains in critical condition and is in intensive care at the hospital.

Three other students, Shaylee Chuckulnaskit, Zoe Galasso and Gia Soriano died from their injuries suffered in the Oct. 24 shooting. Shooter Jaylen Fryberg took his own life.

The high school reopened for classes Monday, and hundreds of students tried to return to a semblance of normal. More than a dozen grief counselors were on hand at the school, and an increased police presence could be seen on camps.

The lunchroom -- the location of the shooting -- was closed and students are eating lunch in the gym.
