18-month-old boy allegedly abducted by estranged mother found following Amber Alert

THURSTON COUNTY -- An Amber Alert issued for a 18-month-old boy was lifted Thursday after the boy was found safe.

The sheriff's office tweeted about an abduction Thursday morning. The boy was believed to be with his estranged mother.

The mother, the child and her car were found a short time after the Amber Alert was issued.

According to police, the boy was taken by his mother despite a protection order out against her.

She was allegedly driving with the child on her lap, and there is no carseat in the vehicle. The mother is known to be schizophrenic and a heroin user, authorities said.

It is not yet known if the mother will be charged with a crime.
