Shooting, stabbing suspect gives himself up following long standoff

SEATTLE -- Police arrested a shooting suspect following a lengthy standoff Thursday night in South Seattle.

A woman called police around 4:40 p.m. from her home in the 7900 block of Rainier Avenue saying her boyfriend had stabbed her in the shin before she was able to flee their home, Seattle police said.

Police officers recognized the boyfriend's name as a 28-year-old suspect from a shooting earlier Thursday and called SWAT to the scene.

Officers called to the home spotted the suspect inside, police said, but he allegedly failed to come out. After a long standoff, SWAT officers entered the home and took the man into custody without incident.

He was arrested and booked into jail on suspicion of assault. The woman was taken to Harborview Medical Center for a minor stab wound to the shin.

Police continue to investigate the incident, as well as Thursday's shooting.
