Get ready to shred! Stevens Pass receives first snowfall of the season (PHOTO GALLERY)

STEVENS PASS -- As winter approaches, skiers and snowboarders alike are gearing up to shred.

Stevens Pass Ski Resort in Washington reported the first snowfall of the year today, and shared the pictures above.

While Stevens Pass and other local ski resorts are a long way from opening- this requires two or more feet -- the first snowfall is always a sign that colder days are headed our way.

So grab some wax and tune those edges! Ski season is not far off.
