Tacoma water main break to force closure of businesses, including paper and saw mills

TACOMA -- A 32-inch water main broke Tuesday night in an industrial area of Tacoma, which would force the closure of 16 to 20 businesses in the area Wednesday, Tacoma Public Utilities spokeswoman Chris Gleason said.

Among those businesses are a paper mill and a saw mill, she said.

The break occurred at Portland Avenue East and East 11th Street. Crews were on the scene and would remain there all night, she said.
