DOMINICAN REPUBLIC — Fear of Ebola led to a scary situation for passengers on a flight from the U.S. to the Dominican Republic when a man made a “joke” about having the deadly virus.

Just before the U.S. Airways flight 845 landed on the Caribbean island, the unidentified passenger yelled out, “I’ve been to Africa!” Fox News Latino reported.  Initial reports by the Dominican press said the passenger had yelled, “I have Ebola!”

Emergency personnel wearing blue hazmat suits boarded the plane at Punta Cana International Airport and the passenger was escorted to the airport’s medical center for testing.

Medics verified that the passenger did not have a fever — a key early symptom of Ebola.

As the man is being escorted off the plane, he can be heard in a video posted to YouTube saying, “I ain’t from Africa!”

Fellow passengers are heard booing the man as he is escorted off the plane. One of the flight attendants even referred to the man as an “idiot” when informing passengers that hazmat crews were about to board the plane.

WATCH (Warning: You may hear some profanity)

The ongoing Ebola outbreak in West Africa has claimed nearly 4,000 lives.

We have come no further in our thinking than 17th century Witch Hunt America. Pretty pathetic. So the guy has bad taste in jokes…He obviously was getting the message across that people are waaay too scared to live for fear of dying. Wake up people. Before you know it, it will be a crime in our “free” country to state anything without being detained and arrested. The government is already convincing us to spy and tell on our neighbors…and if you don’t, you will be prosecuted. Sounds a bit like Nazi Germany to me. Perpetual circle of stupidity.

Please stop being so ignorant. This disease has NOTHING to do with the government and is to be taken serious. If he wasn’t taken off the plane you would be the person to complain that our government dosent take it serious so shut up and keep your ignorance to yourself. You sound like a self angst teenager.

    • Ihateignorance

Also your stupidity is alarming- he was not arrested he was detained! What if he did have ebola and he got your child sick? You would’ve wanted him detained then! This country needs to stop making everything about race and stop blaming everything on the government. This is a disease! Not a new law!

      • Ihateignorance

You think our government is so bad? Open your eyes on some parts of the world if you think for yourself you get murdered. You take advantage of your freedom. You are the ignorant one calling the rest of the world ignorant. You clearly didn’t get a full education in life.

It’s a dick move to say something that will cause a panic in a confined space but the guy shouting he has ebola and then being dragged off the plane by guys in hazmat suits is a little funny.
