15,000 gallon sewage spill prompts 'no contact' order for Ravine Creek

BAINBRIDGE ISLAND -- Health officials are warning people to stay at least 200-feet away from Ravine Creek after 15,000 gallons of sewage spilled into the storm water system on Sunday.

Water samples taken earlier this week near the mouth of Ravine Creek showed high concentrations of bacteria. Officials planned to take more samples to confirm the test results.

The Kitsap Public Health District established a closure zone around the mouth of Ravine Creek in Eagle Harbor asking everyone to stay at least 200-feet away from the stream until further notice.

Officials posted warning signs in the area to inform people to stay away from the water.
