Seattle police now say 1 hit-and-run driver struck 7-year-old girl
SEATTLE — The Seattle Police Department said Wednesday it no longer believes two hit-and-run drivers struck a 7-year-old girl in south Seattle and that officers are only looking for one vehicle.
“Detectives have been able to rule out one of the suspected vehicles they were looking for as the investigation continues,” the SPD Blotter said.
“Detectives have spoken to witnesses and are now only searching for the red/maroon Chevy Tahoe SUV that was seen speeding away after striking the 7-year-old girl,” it added.
On Tuesday night, police said two hit-and-run drivers struck and critically injured a 7-year-old girl at Martin Luther King Jr. Way and Genesee.
The girl was in serious condition in the intensive care unit at Harborview Medical Center Wednesday.
Witnesses told police that a red or maroon Chevy Tahoe SUV stuck the child as she crossed the road. Witnesses said the child fell to the ground and was then struck by a second car, which also sped away.
