SEATTLE — The Seattle Police Department said Wednesday it no longer believes two hit-and-run drivers struck a 7-year-old girl in south Seattle and that officers are only looking for one vehicle.

“Detectives have been able to rule out one of the suspected vehicles they were looking for as the investigation continues,” the SPD Blotter said.

“Detectives have spoken to witnesses and are now only searching for the red/maroon Chevy Tahoe SUV that was seen speeding away after striking the 7-year-old girl,” it added.

On Tuesday night, police said two hit-and-run drivers struck and critically injured a 7-year-old girl at Martin Luther King Jr. Way and Genesee.

The girl was in serious condition in the intensive care unit at Harborview Medical Center Wednesday.

Witnesses told police that a red or maroon Chevy Tahoe SUV stuck the child as she crossed the road. Witnesses said the child fell to the ground and was then struck by a second car, which also sped away.

Detectives are asking you call Traffic Collision investigators at (206) 684-8923 with any information you might have about this hit-and-run.

Stereotypes exist for a reason. We may not like it but that’s just how it is. People’s OWN choices lead directly to what others think of them so it’s their own fault. Sad but true.

This type of pedestrian accident seems to be happening more frequently and it’s occurring all around the Seattle area – not just the south end. Drivers are too busy yakking on their phones while eating a donut.

This is sick. I hope who ever did this is caught and punished to the fullest extent of the law, hopefully lift in jail. That seems fair to me. She may lose her life, and If she doesn’t, these 2 asshats didn’t care if she did. Praying for a full recovery. We need more cameras in Seattle, because it seems this pedestrian stuff is happening way too often.

I dont think it matters what part of town as to who did it, he or she could have been from another part of town.I just hope they catch who ever did do it. Praying for the little girl!
