WMW viewers tips to Crime Stoppers lead U.S. Marshals to missing Spokane County child predator

FUGITIVE CAPTURED September 30, 2014 -- The Spokane County Sheriff's Office says WMW viewer tips called into Crime Stoppers of the Inland Northwest led the U.S. Marshals Pacific Northwest Fugitive Apprehension Task Force to Robert Betts on Tuesday. He was booked into the Spokane County Jail on Tuesday afternoon. WANTED BY DOC IN SPOKANE COUNTY September 26, 2014 -- There is a fugitive alert in Spokane County for a sex offender who's missing half of his tongue. Robert Betts is a convicted child molester who has been busted for preying on kids several times. Betts' victims were an 11-year-old boy, a 13-year-old boy and his 15-year-old friend, and a 6-year-old girl. When he got caught in one case, Betts threatened the victim's mom that he would kill her if she "said anything to the cops." Failing to register as a sex offender is just one of the felony warrants he has out on him. His long rap sheet includes forgery, drugs and obstructing police.

Robert Betts is 50-year-old, has several scars on his left shoulder from being shot.
