Accused Lakewood bank robber linked to 2 other cases, police say

LAKEWOOD -- The Pierce County man shot during a robbery attempt in Lakewood earlier this month now faces more charges.

According to Lakewood police, investigators have linked Michael Winston II to an attempted robbery of an armored car guard as well as a car theft.

The first case happened in June. Detectives said Winston approached a guard who was servicing an ATM and, at gunpoint, demanded the guard hand over his money bag. The guard gave Winston the bag which turned out to be empty.

The second case happened in August when police said he stole a man's car at gunpoint in Puyallup. Investigators said that was the same car that was used in the Lakewood attempted robbery.

Winston's wife Brittney was also arrested. She is accused of being a getaway driver in the latest incident.

They are both being held in Pierce County Jail on robbery charges.
