Missing search-and-rescue dog found, reunited with owner (PHOTOS)

SNOHOMISH COUNTY — A search-and-rescue dog was found in good condition and reunited with her owner Saturday morning.

Checkers the golden retriever was reported missing on Thursday. The Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office asked for the public’s help in finding the dog.

After seeing news reports, a Silvana resident realized she had seen the missing dog in her pool Friday morning.

Her husband went outside early Saturday and called for the dog. Sure enough, Checkers came running out of the woods and waited with the couple until her handler arrived. They were reunited around 9:00 a.m.

Checkers was in good condition. Officials said she had a sore on one of her back paws.
