Teen driver may have been texting when she hit 63-year-old pedestrian, deputies say

SNOHOMISH COUNTY -- Police believe a 16-year-old driver who hit and severely injured a 63-year-old pedestrian was texting at the time of the crash.

The Snohomish County Sheriff's Office said a the woman was walking Saturday evening in the 17100 block of McRae Road NW in Arlington when she was hit by the 16-year-old girl. The victim was transported to Providence Medical Center with serious injuries.

Sheriff's deputies said the girl stayed at the scene to be interviewed by deputies. Deputies believe she may have been texting when she struck the victim.

The girl has not yet been arrested and police are still investigating the crash.
