Driver arrested for possible marijuana DUI after running over, trapping motorcyclist

SEATTLE -- A driver was arrested for suspicion of DUI Monday after allegedly running over and trapping a motorcyclist on MLK Jr. Way, seattle police said.

Seattle fire officials said a 30-year-old motorcyclist was hit and trapped underneath a car around 1 p.m. Monday near the intersection of MLK Jr. Way South and East Pike Street. The motorcyclist was extricated from underneath the car, and taken to Harborview Medical Center with serious injuries.

No other injuries were reported in the crash.

Seattle police said the driver of the car was arrested for driving under the influence. Police believe he was high on marijuana, and he will undergo a blood test.

Police said East Pike Street is closed between 27th Avenue and 29th Avenue as a result of the collision. MLK Jr. Way is also closed between East Union and East Pine Street.

It is not yet known when the roads are expected to reopen.

Seattle police are still investigating the crash.
