Search #BurnISISFlagChallenge online and you will find photos, videos, tweets and Facebook posts of people burning the flag of the Islamic State or ISIS.

The group controls large swaths of territory in Syria and Iraq and has recently released videos showing the beheading of two Americas.

Last weekend a group of protestors in Lebanon burned an ISIS flag in the streets reported the Washington Post.

The flag burning galvanized people across the Arab world who are outraged by the atrocities committed by ISIS and in the days since more and more people have posted images of burning ISIS flags on Twitter, Facebook and YouTube.

The #BurnISISFlagChallenge has since gone viral in something akin to the ice bucket challenge here in the West with people challenging others in their social networks to participate.

The Lebanese government has condemned the movement and warned that anyone caught burning a flag which reportedly displays religious symbols would face the 'sternest punishment.'
