Deputies: 'Badly decomposed' body found on remote road near Leavenworth

CHELAN COUNTY -- Sheriff's deputies are investigating the discovery of decaying human remains found Sunday off a remote forest service road 15 miles north of Leavenworth .

According to the Chelan County Sheriff's Office, the remains were found by two people driving on a United States Forest Service road, scouting areas for the upcoming hunting season. The individuals were just off the road when they spotted what they believed to be a dead animal, deputies said.

Instead, they discovered human remains.

Law enforcement agencies called to the scene are investigating the discovery. Officials offered little information, other than the fact the body was "badly decomposed," officials said.
