Two cars racing in Tacoma ends in fatal crash

TACOMA - One man is dead after his car went out of control and crashed in Tacoma. Tacoma police spokeswoman Loretta Cool said that two cars were reportedly racing late Thursday night. One of cars lost control and crashed into a pole, fence and tree near 90th and South Hosmer St, around 10 p.m.

The man killed was a passenger in one of two cars that was believed to have been racing, Cool said. Tacoma police detectives are investigating whether drugs or alcohol were involved in the crash.

The Pierce County Medical Examiner's office will perform an autopsy and release the identity of the victim, pending notification of next of kin.
