SOUTHWORTH, Wash –  A house fire burning near the Southworth Ferry dock in South Kitsap has fire officials worried about flames spreading to the nearby hillside.

Battalion Mike Mike Wanette with South Kitsap Fire and Rescue told Q13 FOX News that house on Ridegcrest Drive SE was fully engulfed in flames just after 9:00 a.m.

Wanette said the fire was quickly raised to a two alarm fire and additional firefighters were called to the scene.

The home is in a heavily wooded area and Wannette said if the flames spread to trees or brush nearby it could become a significant brush fire quickly.

No word yet on how the fire was started or whether anyone was at home at the time.
