EVERETT — The Snohomish County Council is proposing to expand a nuisance zone, and it’s mostly due to complaints about roosters crowing early in the morning.
The zone would expand to the southern limits of Everett and Mukilteo. This includes areas in Lynnwood, too.
Some farmers like Andrew Ide, who runs Bright Ide Acres, thinks the idea goes too far.
“Living amongst neighbors, neighbors in close proximity, we have to put up with lots of different noises, whether it be garbage trucks or construction next door, whether it be all sorts of things, a teenage party down the street,” Ide said.
Urban farms and chicken coops are a growing trend in places like Snohomish County.
The council hasn’t decided on when the proposal will be voted on. Council members might hold a town hall meeting before it’s voted on.

You know I think sirens and gunshots are worse problem then Roosters. It’s called nature people.Dogs bark, cats meow, and birds chirp, is that a noise problem too?

Why are we talking about roosters when we have such a huge problem with “pain ” field noise pollution? I am sure the record would show many more complaints about airplane noise, than roosters. Also, Let me mention waste management and their noisy trucks and the litter they leave behind after their pick-up. Why are we talking nature noisies? If we cannot be focused on the real problems then we need to rethink who our elected officials are? It’s time to take a good look at this.

Hot summer night… Windows all open… Cool breeze… Sunday Morning at 530 AM a rooster goes off. There is NOTHING nature about that. Don’t be s****d. It’s annoying as hell and you don’t need roosters if you are raising chickens for eggs. Wake up already. That is if you aren’t already from the rooster next door. Nature. Ha!
