Wilson Smith: Accused home invader fights with deputies before getting away; other suspect shot
KING COUNTY -- One accused home invader was Tased, shot and caught. A second fought with deputies and got away. This happened in late July, but now King County detectives say they know who that second suspect is -- and need your help finding him. Wilson Smith is a convicted felon with a disturbing criminal history. The home he's accused of breaking into was in Seatac -- and it wasn't empty.
"A woman and small child were home and she hears someone breaking into the house. She took the child and hid in an upstairs room and called 911," said DB Gates of the King County Sheriff's Office. "When the police arrived, the two suspects who'd been in her house were coming out of the house and they were confronted by our deputies, and after a short confrontation, one of our deputies attempted to Tase one of the suspects, it didn't stop him, so the other deputy shot that suspect." Detectives say Wilson fought with deputies and ran off. A K-9 unit and helicopter hit the scene, but couldn't track him down. Wilson has been busted for three burglaries before, and isn't a stranger to police or Washington's Most Wanted. Wilson was featured on the show back in June when Seattle police were looking at him for violating a no-contact order. Domestic violence detectives say he got mad and took girlfriend's phone when she wouldn't let him use it, hit her in the head with it, then broke it on the ground before dragging her from her own car and then driving off with it. All that crime and violence and just 19 years old.
