HANFORD -- A twister with 70 to 80 mile per hour winds touched down for a few minutes Wednesday evening near Rattlesnake Mountain.

The twister registered as an EF-0, the lowest level of the Enhanced Fujita Scale, the National Weather Service told the Tri-City Herald.

A strong upper-level low moved into the area, combined with instability and a rotating thunderstorm which caused the tornado, forecasters told the paper.

Officials said they did not believe the twister caused any damage because it was reported in a remote area.
