FOR SALE: One heavily used 90-year-old Oregon bridge, self move required

PORTLAND, Ore (KPTV) -- The Sellwood Bridge in Oregon is for sale - if you can move it.
As Multnomah county prepares for the 2015 opening of the new Sellwood Bridge, it must find a way to get rid of the current span.
Because the bridge has been designated a historic resource, it must be made available for historic reuse before it's removed by Multnomah County. The county is hoping a contractor steps up to remove the bridge, but there's a few important requirements before a deal can be made. The buyer must:
- Move it safely with their own resources
- Cover the steel structure to contain lead paint
- Re-use it in a way that preserves the historic resource
- Have a place to put it
- Prove it can be moved safely
The portion of the bridge that is available is the continuous steel truss span that is nearly 1,100 feet long.
Multnomah County will accept proposals to buy the bridge until Sept. 12. If no one buys the bridge, the county will get rid of it itself and recycle most of the materials.
The new Sellwood Bridge is expected to open in 2015 and the entire project should be finished by early 2016.
