SEATTLE -- A big move for Sounders defender DeAndre Yedlin was announced Wednesday.

The team announced it had reached an agreement to transfer Yedlin to Tottenham Hotspur of the English Premier League.

Yedline, Seattle’s first homegrown player, will stay in Seattle through the end of the 2014 MLS season.

"We are extremely proud of what DeAndre has accomplished in his young professional career," said Sounders FC Owner and GM Adrian Hanauer.

The 21 year old earned All-Star honors in each of his first two MLS seasons and played on the U.S. National Team in the 2014 World Cup. He grew up in Shoreline and attended O’Dea High School. Yedlin played youth soccer for Emerald City Northwest Nationals and Crossfire.
