It's huge! Stunning photos, video of last night's supermoon

SEATTLE -- Is there anything sweeter than seeing a supermoon over Seattle?

Stargazers and photographers alike looked to the sky Sunday night for a chance at seeing the supermoon -- a bright lunar phenomenon occurring when the moon becomes full on the same days as its perigee, which is the point in the moon's orbit when it is closest to earth.

The supermoon of August is one of the largest and brightest full moons of the year. The U.S. Naval Observatory says the moon will be 12 percent bigger and 30 percent brighter than it was in January 2014.

Along with the photos, take a look at this amazing video submitted by photographer Tim Durkan.

Tim says, "It took hard work, a ton of luck and a lot miles traveled to make a little 3 minute video about this weekend's 'Super Moon' But somehow it was all worth it...!"
