LAKEWOOD — A convicted child molester faces charges for planting marijuana on a teen and posing as a police officer, threatening to arrest her, Lakewood police said.

Police say 28-year-old Jon Carrington was on house arrest and wearing an electric monitoring ankle bracelet when he approached the 14-year-old girl at the Lakewood Towne Center Transit Center on Aug. 6.

The girl told police he came up behind her and started rubbing her back, reached into her purse and placed a small, crumbled up baggie in the outside pocket.

Carrington told her it was marijuana, and that he was a Department of Corrections officer and was going to arrest her. The girl said he started to threaten her, claiming he was an armed gang member and would shoot her in the head.

A passenger stepped in and Carrington walked away. But he didn’t get far, and police picked him up nearby.

Carrington identified himself as a DOC officer to police. When they pointed to his ankle monitor, he admitted he was on house arrest and was allowed to leave his motel room, as long as he was home by 10 p.m. He then told police he gave the marijuana to the girl, because he thought she “wanted some.”

Pierce County prosecutors have charged Carrington with felony harassment charges, communication with a minor for immoral purposes and unlawful delivery of a controlled substance to a person under 18. He is also charged with fourth-degree sexual assault, and criminal impersonation.

Carrington has plead not guilty and is in jail in lieu of $500,000 bail. He was previously convicted of two counts of child molestation in 2010.

I’m embarrassed to say I know him personally and I’m also friends with his sister. Needless to say his family is devastated by these turn of events. I’m just as sickened by his behavior as everyone else. It just goes to show just like in the murder of that little girl in Bremerton you never really know who your dealing with. They might seem normal but when it comes to sex people can be very different then the rest of us
