Police: 60-year-old abducted Snohomish teenager, forced her to take pills

EVERETT -- A 14-year-old kidnapping victim who was rescued on Thursday was back in the hospital Friday after suffering a breakdown.

That Snohomish girl's breakdown came on the same day the man accused of kidnapping her went before a judge.  He was ordered held on $100,000 bail.

Police said  60-year old Albino Estrada Montano forced the teen to take pills and threatened to hurt her.

"What a creep, what an absolute creep," said Kandi Henson, a family friend and former caregiver of the teen, who is described as developmentally disabled.

Detectives said Montano met the girl at a McDonald’s restaurant Wednesday in Snohomish, bought her soda and cookies and promised her a trip to Hawaii.

Deputies said the suspect then talked her into taking the bus with him to Lynnwood, where they spent the night at a friend’s mobile home. They said the girl wanted to leave but the suspect threatened to hit her in the stomach.

According to court documents, Montano, who is homeless, eventually took her to a friend's home at a mobile home park in Lynnwood.

Police said Montano told her to tell people he was her grandfather.

"At some point she thought she wanted to go home and he essentially threatened her," said Shari Ireton, spokeswoman for the Snohomish County Sheriff's Office. Ireton said he also forced her to take pills.

The next day, workers at a Grocery Outlet store in Lynnwood spotted the missing girl with Montano and called police.

He was arrested on an outstanding warrant for trespassing. Authorities now have enough probable cause to charge Montano with second-degree kidnapping.

Deputies are still investigating whether Montano assaulted the girl.
