Expert identifies creepy creature discovered by Q13 FOX viewer (PHOTOS)

UNIVERSITY PLACE, Wash -- Our scary, hairy eight-legged mystery may be solved.

Rob Crawford at Seattle’s Burke Museum looked at the photos posted by a Q13 FOX News viewer on Facebook and concluded that the creature that has everyone talking is a folding-door spider.

Viewer Hailee Graff shared a series of photos of one of the creepy looking creatures on Facebook.

Hailee said her friend, June, found it floating in a decorative watering can outside her home in University Place.

June couldn’t identify the creature herself, so she took to social media to see if anyone else recognized it.

On Facebook June wrote that the creature was roughly an inch long, has 8 legs and the bulbous section seems to have antennas.

Crawford said he couldn’t be 100% sure, but he believed it was a folding-door spider.

“Their behavior is similar to the more-famous trapdoor spiders,” said Crawford. “They stay underground most of their lives which is why they are unfamiliar to most folks.”

Crawford said that like all spiders in Pierce and King counties they pose no threat to humans
