26-year-old bicyclist struck, pinned under semi, rescued by firefighters

SEATTLE --  A bicyclist was struck and dragged by a semi Monday afternoon and became pinned under the vehicle.  Firefighters used industrial bags and cribbing to lift the truck off the man.

He was taken to the hospital in stable condition with fractures and road rash, the Seattle Fire Department said, adding that he was conscious and alert.

The accident happened at 4th and Spokane Street around 3 p.m.

The Fire Department said medics transported the bicyclist, a 26-year-old man. in stable condition to Harborview Medical Center.

Seattle Police said officers were called to the scene and traffic in the area was stalled.

It is unclear what caused the accident.
