Bonney Lake police warn of bear sighting in community

BONNEY LAKE, Wash. -- The Bonney Lake Police Department issued a safety advisory Monday, warning that a "smaller black bear" has been seen in the 7900 block of 214th Avenue East in front of a residence and also two other times on Vandermark Road East.

"Police have notified the Department of Fish and Wildlife, which is monitoring the situation," the police said in a news release.

"In the meantime, we are asking the community if the bear is seen, do not approach it, do not feed it, and do not harass it. Please contact the Department of Fish and Wildlife as soon as possible (360) 902-2936 #1. If you need rapid assistance, call 911."
