Police investigate drone spotted near top of Space Needle

SEATTLE -- Seattle police investigated reports of a drone spotted Tuesday near the top of the Space Needle but no damage was found.

Police received several reports that some sort of drone may have crashed into the Observation Deck window near the top of the Space Needle.

Witnesses described the unmanned aerial vehicle as white with a quad-propeller and a video camera.

Others told police they saw the drone "glide to a hotel" two blocks east of the Space Needle where it landed in a room on the 5th floor.

Police say security pointed them to the room where the drone landed. They spoke with the man inside who said he was visiting Seattle and had purchased the drone from a hobby shop.

The man agreed not to fly his drone in public after officers explained a recent controversy in which a woman reported a drone was spying on her through her window.
