Emerald Queen Casino cancels Ted Nugent concerts in wake of alleged racist comments by the rocker

TACOMA, Wash – A second venue in the Pacific Northwest is cancelling scheduled concerts by Ted Nugent after a wave of complaints appeared online and in the media that the singer had made racist remarks about President Obama.

The Emerald Queen Casino announced the Nugent concerts scheduled for August 2nd and 3rd had been cancelled and refunds would be given at the point of purchase.

A spokesperson for the casino stopped short of offering a reason for the decision.  But on the casino's Facebook page a number of comments can be seen first calling for the concerts to be cancelled and then thanking the casino for the decision to cancel and citing concerns over Nugent's alleged comments.

In the past Nugent has called President Obama a ‘subhuman mongrel’ and then apologized.

Earlier this week the Coeur d’Alene Casino cancelled its scheduled concerts for Nugent.  From its Facebook page:

“We adamantly do not want our casino to be used as a venue for the racist attitudes and views that Ted Nugent espouses,” said Laura Stensgar, Executive Director of Marketing for the Coeur d’Alene Casino. Unfortunately, when we booked him, we were looking at him from an entertainment perspective, as an 80s rock ‘n roller who we thought folks might enjoy. We take the comments and concerns of our community very seriously and we apologize to anyone who was offended by the idea that we would promote these kinds of attitudes.”

Nugent blasted his critics in an interview with Radio.com blaming liberal critics for pressuring the casinos into cancelling his shows.

“I am so good at advancing the most politically incorrect policies in the world,” the rocker told Radio.com. “I have been involved in upgrading our Second Amendment rights in all 50 states, so we the people can in fact keep and bear arms…the left hates that. The liberal democrats and the Huffington Post and the Saul Alinsky gang, they hate that I’m so effective. I have expanded and increased hunting opportunities all across the globe. So I am able to, dare I say, perfectly articulate my case — they are not!
