Helicopter crew spots 10-year-old boy who was missing in wilderness for 24 hours (VIDEO)

SHELTON, Wash. -- Mason County search-and-rescue units found a 10-year-old boy who was missing for nearly 24 hours after becoming lost while picking berries with his sisters at about noon Thursday in the Lake Cushman area, the sheriff's office said.

A helicopter team spotted the boy around 9:30 a.m. Friday.  He was reported safe and sound shortly after that.





The Mason County Sheriff's Office said Nathan's sisters reportedly lost track of him while they were picking berries in the area.

Officers brought in tracking dogs and other resources such as 30 volunteers to relieve the night team.

Lake Cushman is a popular hiking and swimming destination, and is surrounded by thick tree coverage.
