Cooler weather ahead here, but will it help in wildfires?

SEATTLE -- Western Washington has another disturbance that will move through late in the day tomorrow. It looks to mimic that one we had today- a few spotty sprinkles in the sound, rain on the coast and mountains. Before this next system arrives, however, it looks like after the marine layer clears, we will have a chance at a few afternoon sunbreaks.

Most of the rain today was focused in the Northern Cascades where Mt Baker picked up on .25” of rainfall.  Tomorrow evening will likely be about the same.

As we head into Monday, expect partly cloudy skies with highs in the lower 70s. Widespread measurable rain slips back into the forecast by Wednesday for the first time since the end of June.

In central and Eastern Washington, winds will die down heading into tonight. We have two disturbances coming through tomorrow and Monday, but aren’t expected to generate much rain at all.

Most models squeeze out less than a tenth of an inch. There is a chance of measureable rain late Tuesday and Wednesday, but this also comes with a chance of thunderstorms as well.

Humidity levels will rise with this system and that creates ‘fuel’ for rain and possible lightning. We will be keeping a close eye on this one in the coming days.
