RENTON -- Multiple buildings caught fire Saturday afternoon in Renton, Skyway Fire reported.

The fire was reported in the 1400 block of South 18th Street at a 30-unit apartment building. According to Skyway Fire, multiple structures were caught up in the blaze, and many units reported to the scene.

It was not immediately known how big the fire was, but smoke could be seen from far away, many on Twitter reported. The fire was even visible from I-405.

The American Red Cross said the fire at the apartment building impacted 80 people, and the building was a complete loss.

The fire appeared to be largely in control in the primary buildings by 3:15 p.m., but a nearby park caught fire, and structure protections were put in place in the Falcon Ridge Neighborhood of Renton as officials worried the fire could spread. Evacuations of homes in the neighborhood were possible, officials said.

A video of the blaze was also captured and sent to Q13FOX News.
