CENTRAL WASHINGTON -- A new group on Facebook is devoted to helping fire victims in north-central Washington. People are offering everything from shelter to free repairs and even children's toys.

Michelle McClanahan Rogge created the group late Thursday. By Friday morning, the group called "Chelan helps fire victims" had grown to more than 1,000 members.

According to the page, the Red Cross is working to get a mobile boarding unit set up for pets and animals who have been displaced by the fire.  The Wenatchee Valley Humane Society is also helping pets and animals.

Other posters are letting those who have been evacuated know where they can find a room, pitch a tent or park their RVs.

So far, officials say the best way to help is to stay away from the fires and donate to the American Red Cross >>

The Community Foundation of North Central Washington has set up the NCW FIRE RELIEF FUND and donations can be made directly online.

Chelan PUD is also accepting donations of gift cards or money at the following locations:

321 N. Wenatchee Ave., Wenatchee
1034 E. Woodin Ave., Chelan
222 Chumstick Hwy., Leavenworth
